Classical Ballet Dance ClassesWhat styles of dance are offered?

We offer programs for ages 2- adult.  We teach ballet, jazz, hip-hop, tap, modern, and a specialized Early Childhood Program for ages 3-6.

Ballet is highly encouraged as a fundamental class for those students who wish to become strong well rounded dancers,  as it strengthens balance, coordination, and flexibility.   However, we understand that ballet does not interest everyone.  Students may choose to take  recreational jazz, tap, or hip hop classes without having ballet training.

What is the studio’s history?

Dance Dimensions has been serving the Hedgesville/Martinsburg community for 11 years. We are excited to our once pre-school children advancing into strong dancers.

Are you enrolling?

  • The best time of year to enroll in June-August.  This reserves the participant a spot for the new dance season.
  • Our doors are always open to new dancers.  Late enrollment is accepted throughout the year as space is available.
  • Students are to be enrolled prior to Dec. 1st to participate in the spring recital.

When does the dance year start and end?

  • Our program is aligned with the school year.  Classes for 2017 will begin Saturday, August 26th.  The annual spring recital is held in June.
  • Over the summer we offer various summer camps designed to meet the needs of specific ages and levels.

What is your tuition and registration fee?

For the 2017-2018 season, a 1 hour class per month is $46 (plus WV sales tax).   We offer high quality dance instruction, by teachers with degrees in dance, at reasonable prices.   As the number of hours, per child, increases the amount per hour decreases.

Do you have a dress code?

Affordable dance class wear, dance suits, ballet shoes, tap shoes, jazz shoes

Yes, just like any activity there is proper “dance gear”.  We keep our dance attire requirements simple.  As a courtesy to our customers, we properly size and order in all necessary items.   We set up a one stop  shop several times throughout the dance year.   This saves you time from running and guessing which dance attire is needed for class, as well as this saves you money from the retail mark up.  All items have a 100% product guarantee though the manufacturing company.  Please review our Dress Code as it has each style of dance, the list of recommended items, and price ranges to place an order with us for Revolution Dancewear.

Do students participate in a recital and how long is the show?

Dance Dimensions RecitalYes, performance is a fun process.  Students have the option to perform in the annual spring recital held at the end of each dance year in June.  We offer a full ballet production.  Please see our gallery of photos from previous shows.  Participation is encouraged as this is the opportunity for students to showcase the progress they have made throughout the year.  Not only is the experience a lot of fun, but students learn that the production of a recital requires cooperation and teamwork.  All students are involved in the shows.  Our shows usually run about two and a half hours.  Please do not make plans to travel 2 weeks prior two the show as this is an important time for show preparation.

What additional time outside of class time is needed for recital?

We know your time is valuable as is ours.   The recital participation form you receive in October will provide you with an outline of the organized performance  schedule well in advance.  In summary, to prepare for a smooth running show each class will have one “show and share” time slot  (students have the opportunity to have an live audience of other fellow dancers) two weeks before the show and one “blocking rehearsal”  (students adjust to the layout of the stage) the week of the show.   These essential practices are arranged in time slots for each class (45 minutes for young children to an hour for older students) starting at 4:15 PM.  Students taking multiple classes will have multiple time slots.    The longest practice is “dress rehearsal” (the evening is broken into two parts and will run in show order, students perform in full costume) the day before the opening night.   These essential practices are arranged to help prepare excited students to take the stage with confidence!
